FISHING THROUGHOUT THE PAWTUXET SYSTEM

The Pawtuxet System boasts the best freshwater fishing in the State of Rhode Island. This system has produced the current state record large mouth bass and white catfish and holds the state's largest population of smallmouth bass. The lower Pawtuxet is now home to striped bass who have the ability to navigate fresh water!

There is public fishing access throughout the Pawtuxet System.
Do not hesitate to call our office for fishing info and locations.

Join us for our Annual Family Fishing Derby at Lake Tiogue, in Coventry on Arnold Road, usually on Father's Day weekend  in June.

An accessible fishing pier is open for the public at our Crompton Village Fishing Pier and Canoe Launch in West Warwick

Our Centerville Pond Fishing Area also has a platform available to fish from the shore in West Warwick

Anglers may also fish from shore near our Pontiac Canoe Launch at the corner of Knight Street and Pontiac Ave in Warwick.

There are several state managed fishing locations and access points listed on the interactive online RIDEM Outdoor Recreation map posted by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Be sure to click on the green layer list and select which type of fishing locations you would like to see listed under "Outdoor Recreation Layers"

Each city or town municipal website may also maintain their own list of public fishing opportunities. Please see your local Recreation Department website for details.

PLEASE SEE BELOW "TROUT FISHING IN THE PAWTUXET" FOR
GENERAL FISHING ACCESS!

BIKING

Explore the Washington Secondary Bikepath

The Washington Secondary Bike Path is the state's longest bike path at 19 miles from Cranston Street in Cranston to Log Bridge Road, just past Route 102, in western Coventry. It is named for the abandoned rail corridor once served by the Providence, Hartford, & Fishkill Railroad.

The path is often referred to locally by the segment names given as the path was built, and these include:
  • Cranston Bike Path
  • Warwick Bike Path
  • West Warwick Greenway
  • Coventry Greenway
  • Trestle Trail
